Biggleswade Churches Together

Biggleswade Churches Together

In September 2004 more than 90 Christians from Biggleswade Churches met at to discuss how together they can best meet the future needs of the growing town. The result was unanimous agreement that those present wanted to pursue the formation of "Biggleswade Churches Together".

In January 2005 representatives from five Biggleswade Churches agreed aims, composition and functions as follows:-

Aims:
To please our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and further Christian mission, in Biggleswade and elsewhere, in ways that are best done as Churches Together;

John 17 20-23, Romans 15: 5-6, Matthew 28 18-20 Hebrews 13:20-21.

Composition:
The "Biggleswade Churches’ Forum’ comprises up to three representatives (including the Minister) of the participating Churches. It is tasked with forming and administering "Biggleswade Churches Together".

Functions:
a) Advise and help with current joint activities and keep respective churches informed.
b) Exchange news of each church's programmes: for prayer, referrals and participation when appropriate and to help avoid diary clashes.
c) Suggest and consider new joint mission initiatives (events / projects) in consultation with respective churches.
d) Represent Biggleswade Churches to the Local Authorities and other relevant organisations.

At a subsequent meeting on March 10 "Biggleswade Churches Together" came into being, affiliated to "Churches Together In Bedfordshire"

The Churches Forum continues to meet at approximately 6 week intervals to progress these and other matters.

A leaflet is available, which gives basic details for each of the Churches involved.
